DNS - Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization or “DNS” is an innovative manual and rehabilitative approach to optimize the movement system based upon the scientific principles of developmental kinesiology.  DNS explores the stages of infant development from the fetal position to being upright (walking). These positions are stored involuntarily in the central nervous system and can be accessed through optimal core stabilization, joint mobility and stimulation of reflex point.

Often overuse, injuries, postural habits, or stress alter our normal movement patterns, which can lead pain and dysfunction.  DNS provides a means to assess and rehabilitate these altered patterns aiding in the restoration of functional movement and resolution of unwanted symptoms.

The treatment…

The doctor will identify the underlying dysfunctional pattern leading to loss of control and postural deviations in the patient.  They will then choose the appropriate childhood development positions to best support the hips, shoulder and spine.  Joint mobilization and soft tissue manipulation are also performed to facilitate these positions.  The patient follows developmental progression to higher positions (towards standing) in which support and stability is more demanding.
